Santiago

Hola! We are starting in Santiago, the heart of Chile! From what I’ve read on the inter-web we are going to love it here! We’ve got a beautiful hotel with a pool and balcony booked for a whole week, so we can relax and soak up the sun after a long, rainy British summer of cleaning toilets!

"What Does Santiago Have to Offer A First-Time Visitor?"

But what has Santiago got to offer?!

Well, we are so ready for a wine tour as Chile is famous for its wine, so we can’t leave without trying some of the country’s best wines. And when it comes to food, we’re in for a treat! Chilean cuisine is full of delicious dishes that reflect the country’s culture and history. We don’t want to miss out on traditional Chilean dishes like empanadas, pastel de choclo, and cazuela. Yum?!

Now, let’s talk about the places that are a must-do whilst in Santiago. We can start our exploration in the main square, Plaza de Armas, and visit the famous La Moneda Palace. For breathtaking panoramic views of the city, take a ride on the cable car or hike up to Cerro San Cristobal. And we like a bit of history so there is a visit to the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes and the Museo de la Memoria y los Derechos Humanos. Ooooo, Nick is in for a treat…

We are not big shoppers but would be fools not to partake in a bit of shopping. We can head to the trendy neighbourhood of Barrio Lastarria, which is full of boutiques and restaurants. After heading for some green space, the beautiful Parque Bicentenario and Parque Forestal,

Santiago sounds like a vibrant and exciting city. I’m sure we’ll have a fantastic time here, and we can’t wait to tell you all about it!
