Philippines

Coron, is one of the top tourist destinations in the Philippines it is part of the Calamian Islands and is set in the Palawan Provence in the west. It is also best known for its world-class wreck diving, of Japanese WW2 shipwrecks. The island also offers beautiful tropical white sand beaches, crystal-clear freshwater lakes, and shallow-water coral reefs great for snorkeling.

You can take a boat cruise to visit the various outlying islands’ limestone karsts, beautiful beaches, and stunning lakes here.

As we were planning to be in Busuanga Bay for our entire trip in The Philippines. I didn’t do any research on where to go or what to see. We were hoping to do day trips from the Bay. But, It wasn’t to be…

So after just a week in Jungle isolation, I booked a hotel for the rest of our 10-night visit, in Coron Town. I have read that you only need 3 – 4 nights in this area but with no previous planning and brain dead from all the drama of the week before it was nice not to have to rush about for a bit.  Civilization, at last, the relief was immense. It was amazing.

HERE WE GO… first things first….

We are off to the pub!

And after a week away from civilization there was only one thing to do, go out out and discover the joys of Coron Town.

After booking into our hotel Kokonuss Bungalows which was recommended to us by some fellow travelers Jo n Flo who we met in Bali, we showered and got ready to hit the town. This hotel was perfectly located, just out of town only a 10 min walk away from the hustle and bustle of the bars and restaurants.

We ended up in a bar and ordered a 3-liter Mai Tai, along with snacks. Have a sing-song. And just generally let our hair down.

Obviously, we woke up the next morning swearing we would never drink that much ever again. Now that was out of our system….

WE HAD AN ISLAND TO EXPLORE!

Well, we had 10 days to squish in as much as possible. So, the plan was to book all the trips and take in as much as possible. Also, the manager of the hotel gave us lots of top tips for getting out and about and during the week helped us book a couple of trips.
