We're Getting Ready For a Fabulous 10 Days In France!!

Nice is famous for its great climate, stunning views, beautiful beaches and delicious food. Also, it is known for its glitz and glamour making it a playground for the rich and famous. Yep…. that’s us all glitz and glamour!!

As first-time visitors, I plan for us to make the most of our 10-day stay. As I’ve said before we are not very good at sticking to a budget. But we really are going to try this time …. Promise!

There is so much to explore in and around Nice like the Matisse Museum, take a stroll through The Old Town Nice (Vieux), explore the vibrant Marche Aux Fluers Cours Saleya, and take a leisurely walk along the beautiful Promenade des Anglais. We would be fools not to also partake in a wine tour. Possibly a food tour who wouldn’t want to sample local dishes which include a healthy salad Nicoise, Beignets de fleurs de courgettes (exciting), mussels in white wine, just a glass of white wine and maybe a glass of red and then more wine…..

And then within an hour of Nice by bus, we have Antibes a resort town on the Cote d’Azur. Where we will find the Picasso Museum and sandy white beaches with clear waters. Monaco, Cannes and Monte Carlo to visit.

All of this and we also got to squeeze in some Rugby!!

"7 Good-to-Know Top Tips Before Travelling to Nice"

Parlez Vous en Francais?….. a Oui. Voulez vous coucher avec moi ce soir… or Quelle heure est il? …. See I’m fluent in French. Nick won’t have it but I know secretly he is impressed with my amazing French language!!!

So apart from knowing a little French what else is good to know before we fly over to Nice?

  1. The Beaches are pebbles great for those who don’t like sand between their toes. So, make sure to grab a pair of water shoes to get yourself from the sun lounger to the sea when you need that dip in the Mediterranean Sea to cool down.

  2. Nice is reasonably priced and more budget-friendly than its more luxurious neighbours Monaco, Monte Carlo and Cannes. However, during the summer months, prices tend to increase. Therefore, it is advisable to book travel tickets and accommodation in advance or plan a trip during the off-season to save money.

  3. Buy the French Riveria Pass great if you plan to have an action-packed few days in The Cote D’Azur and like to visit museums and forts. This site also gives you access to a calculator to work out if it is worthwhile buying a pass.

  4. Getting around Nice. The trams and buses are a great way to get around fast and cheaply. And they will get you anywhere.  They run on a regular service running from 4 am until after midnight!!

    We should expect to pay

    €1.50 per ride

    €10 for 10 journeys

    €5 for a 24hr pass

€15 for a 7 day pass (looking good)

The buses also run to neighbouring towns like Monaco and Cannes and there is also a special bus that takes you up into the mountains…. Oooooo

Walking….. don’t forget its good to walk and explore on foot a great App that we use is AllTrails and look up city walks.

  5. Stay near Vieux Ville or the Old Town of Nice this is where all the best restaurants and bars are. It’s also when Nice comes alive at night.

  6. Dinner starts at 8???  It’s the French way!! No words….. I can do wine all night. This gives us some South American training. They also eat a lot later in the evening.

  7. As always when away it is always good to carry a little bit of cash with you. But in general credit/debit cards are accepted across the city.

So, there we have some small nuggets of information that will help towards an enjoyable stay in Nice.
