Welcome To The Cote D'Azur - Nice
Nice, I’m assured is one of the most beautiful cities to visit in France. It is located on the French Rivera, in Southern France, bathed by the Mediterranean Sea.
Oooo sounds bloomin’ luverly.
So, what to do? We can….
Here we have it our Let’s Go Nick… list of things to do while visiting Nice
Promenade des Anglais
Take a leisurely stroll along the iconic Promenade des Anglais and take in the breathtaking views of the Mediterranean Sea. The vibrant blue waters and the gentle sea breeze create an atmosphere of pure serenity that’s sure to leave you feeling refreshed and invigorated.
Musee Matisse
Being Art lovers, that we are (not really!!) we shouldn’t miss the chance to visit the Musée Matisse, which features an extensive collection of works by one of France’s most renowned artists. From paintings to sculptures, you’ll be able to admire some of Matisse’s most iconic pieces and learn more about his life and legacy.
Castle Hill
We are looking forward to visiting La Colline du Château (Castle Hill) in Nice, France, a popular public park renowned for its stunning views of the city, beaches, Baie des Anges, and the distant Alps. To reach the park, we can use stairs or a free elevator located at the end of Promenade des Anglais. We’ve been told to look out for a waterfall!! It’s good to know that Castle Hill is open seven days a week, there are specific opening and closing hours. During winter, it opens from 8:30 am to 6:00 pm, while in summer, it opens from 8:30 am to 8 pm
Marche Cours Saleya
We’re excited to explore the vibrant local culture by paying a visit to the bustling markets of Marche Cours Saleya. I’ve heard that there are countless colorful stalls selling all kinds of goods, from fresh produce to handmade souvenirs, so I’m sure we’ll find something that caters to both our tastes and preferences. As lovers of great tasting food, We’re especially looking forward to indulging in some of the tempting local delicacies. I’ve learned that the market is open from Tuesday to Sunday, from around 8 am to 12:30 pm, so we’ll definitely make sure to include it on our itinerary when we are in Nice, France.
The Old Town
The Old Town is the vibrant heart of Nice. With its narrow, shadowy streets, cosy squares, colourful markets, baroque churches and a jumble of pastel houses, Vieux Nice looks and feels much as it must have about two centuries ago. The sounds are different though, at least at night when music from the bars and nightclubs fills the air with rhythm. The bustle of tourists and shoppers is replaced by teams of young clubbers prowling the streets for the latest hangout. On summer evenings the Old Town resembles a vast open-air party. But during the day, Vieux Nice harbours some remarkable buildings that recall Nice’s eventful history.
Day Trips To Surrounding Towns And Villages.
Nice is also an excellent base for exploring other stunning destinations along the French Riviera. By taking a bus or train ride, we can venture out to explore Villefranche-Sur-Mer a picturesque Old Town. Eze-Village is a hilltop village situated between Nice and Monte Carlo. We also have Monaco and Monte Carlo to visit. And to the West, we have Cannes And Antibes…..EXCITING!!
Drink Wine
It’s just got to be done. Having a taste of the local wines Mmmm… Yes, we can drink wine in the restaurants and bars but there are plenty of wine tours in this area. There are alot of options to choose from so a good place to start is GET YOUR GUIDE.
