We’re chasing freedom, sunshine, and a life less ordinary.

Back in August 2021, we decided to quit our jobs and sell pretty much everything we owned—not Nick’s tools, though, he just can’t let them go. We rented out our house and set off on what we thought would be a budget-friendly adventure around the world.

Seven months later, somewhere between night markets in Thailand and humid hostel rooms in Cambodia, a few realisations hit us:

• Turns out, we’re not exactly budget-savvy travellers. Budgets? Not our thing.
• Being together 24/7 is… intense.
• I actually missed working (I know, shock horror). But having a reason to get up in the morning makes a difference. And you need money to travel — especially when that “tight budget” turned into more of a loose guideline.
• Meanwhile, Nick was perfectly happy drifting through life in a blissful travel daydream (usually involving lazing on a beach).
• And we both really missed our friends and family. The laughs, the nights out, cocktails in Exeter on a Saturday… all the little things that make home, home.

So—we made some changes. That’s when we discovered the world of seasonal work at a holiday park. From March to October, Nick works as a warden and I’m in the kitchen as a chef. We live on-site in our touring caravan, working through the busy season and saving our pennies. Then, when winter rolls around, we pack our bags and fly off to warmer climes.

Breaking free from the everyday grind has been a whole new experience, and we’re learning as we go. I started this blog to share the ups, the downs, and the many unexpected turns — and hopefully to inspire you to rethink what’s possible, too.

It’s been a big lifestyle shift for us, and honestly? Nothing could’ve prepared us for it. But we wouldn’t have it any other way.
